Please read the relocated nationals NOR carefully with respect to Covid 19 precautions and online noticeboard here

Entry is still open but will close at midnight on Wed 9 Sept.  So no paper entry at event I’m afraid.

Good news: we will not be sharing the weekend with the 470 Nationals because they have a calendar clash!

Further details being worked on right now…

RELOCATED NATIONALS UPDATE 24 AUG 2020

We have the date for the relocated RS700 RS800 Nationals = 12-15 Sept.  I am now waiting to organise the details with WPNSA who are currently in the middle of hosting their first Covid 19 rescheduled event: the Laser Nationals.  WPNSA have been totally heroic in their capacity as National Sailing Academy taking on so many short notice events to provide us with racing during this pandemic.  So we will have to be a little patient!

I thought I would share with you the info I have so far:

The relocated nationals will focus on racing with shoreside activity limited in accordance with Covid 19 guidelines.  For example the toilets will be open but the changing rooms closed.  Prizegiving will be by invitation only to reduce gathering numbers.

Racing on Sat 12 and Sun 13 Sept will be inside the harbour because it is the Yacht Clubs of Weymouth Regatta in the Bay and there are 8 to 10 cruise ships moored up as obstacles.  However the plan is to race in the Bay on Mon 14 and Tues 15 Sept, subject to weather conditions and slightly more cautious Covid 19 upper and lower wind limits (to avoid towing).

The 470 Nationals will be held over the weekend 12-13 Sept and we will be sharing a race area with them.  The 470 fleet is anticipated to be no more than 20 boats.  The race team are working to separate the fleets by inner and outer loops and staggered start times to maximise the quality of racing for all.

All race and result information will be online but you will not have access to the WPNSA building’s wifi.  So you will need to be able to independently connect online to access this info.

You will be able to drop boats off on Friday 11 Sept.  Depending on how quickly the Moths vacate the site after their Nationals finishing on the Friday this will either be to your allocated boat parking area or to a signposted compound.

A plan is being worked on for weigh in on the plank.

It is likely that we will be asked to provide some volunteers to help with beach, tally and on the water in patrol boats.  WPNSA will have been running short notice events non-stop for over a month by the time we are there and they are worried that their normal gang of volunteers may well fatigue.  Please let me know if you have a family member or pal who can help and in what capacity.

I will be in touch with more event information as soon as I have any!

I’m really looking forward to hosting you all to a slightly different but still utterly awesome RS700 RS800 Volvo Noble Marine National Championships!

Cheers Clare

Save The Date: Sat 12 – Tues 15 Sept 20

RS700 RS800 Nationals Relocated to WPNSA

Let’s put our hands together to raise a massive thank you to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for rescuing our RS700 RS800 Volvo Noble Marine National Championships which will now run from Sat 12 until Tues 15 Sept 20.

Details are being organised right now so more info will follow…

4 Aug 20:

RS700 RS800 Nationals’ Host Exe Sailing Club Have Just Withdrawn

Alternative venues being explored

I am very sorry to have to tell you that this morning I discovered that Exe Sailing Club had withdrawn as host of the 2020 RS700 RS800 Volvo Noble Marine National Championships.  Please see message from the Commodore here

I am hugely grateful to Anne Way and her team of dedicated volunteers who worked so hard to make the event viable.   We are very disappointed not to be racing at Exe Sailing Club.

However I am working with the RS700 and RS800 committees to relocate the event to another club.  Watch this space…  So please grab your Exmouth accommodation refunds but do not cancel your holiday time off work.

A decision about whether to cancel or relocate will be made by next Tuesday 11 Aug.  We appreciate you need certainty and time to plan.  If the event is cancelled all entries will be refunded or carried forward until next year’s nationals or Europeans.  If the event is relocated, but teams are no longer able to participate, then a refund or carry forward will also be offered.

The event will run following relevant Government advice at the time to ensure safety of both RS800 sailors and Exe SC volunteers.

If Government advice is to limit the size of the Nationals then places will be allocated on a first come first served basis with payment securing your entry.

In the event of the nationals having to be cancelled then entrants will be given the choice of a full refund or carrying forward payment against entry to the 2021 Europeans or Nationals.

END

Full four days of racing and shoreside partying

Entry choice: four day Nationals or weekend, youth, Spinlock 1999 (for boats with sail numbers lower than 1118)
