YC Carnac Open, France

Breizhskiff Event, YC Carnac
Fabulous sailing conditions, the pictures say it all! 12-17kts + sun on Saturday, 10-14kts cloudy on Sunday.
32 skiffs including 8 RS800, racing in a 5 races event. 1 long distance and close racing all along between the RS800.
Very welcoming atmosphere in Carnac as ever, during this 2 days event, with a good meal at the club on saturday evening.
The French teams look forward to welcome the class for 2018 Eurocup in Carnac, we intend to beat French attendance record on an RS Eurocup at this occasion!   Not very hard as our best score is 4 boats but we plan to gather 10 boats in Carnac in May 2018 and are already building plans to get to Weymouth RS Games!
The event is won by usual suspect B14 Alain/Francois Cadre, and the best 3 RS800 are ranked 4th, 5th and 6th.
Young fellahs, Tom Garcia from YC Carnac and Quentin Milleret from CNViryChatillon teamed up for the occasion and sailed consistantly every race to stay in front of the experienced team Jean Louis and Camille from CN Viry Chatillon.  Gilles Peeters managed to finish third, teaming up with Stephane, getting there with no skiff neither racing experience: fast learning curve for Stephane well done! Local RS700/Aero sailors Cédric Fraboulet and Yannick Pourlier, new RS800 structured team finish 5th with no big needs to match at the top. Also worth saying a word about Valentin and Willy, very young and light weight team, racing old style boat, old style sail, very old mast, and still racing very fast beats in front before to capsize before the end. Bad luck!
Congratulations to all the competitors, Tom and Quentin of course, and keep an eye on behalf of GBR EoS event to final step in France of skiff racing, planed at La Baule November 11-12.
