It’s now less than 3 weeks until the GUL RS 800 National Championship kick off at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club and there are still places available for those who haven’t got their forms in yet….
5 days of racing, sizzling socials and many spot prizes make this year’s nationals a must for any sailor!

Act 1
For anyone looking to warm-up prior to the Nationals a training event, Act 1, begins this coming Sunday at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club. It’s the perfect opportunity to make those final tweaks to the rig, to pitch yourselves against some of the favourites and to generally get to grips with sailing at the ESSC. All competitors attending Act 1 are welcome to leave their boats at the sailing club in preparation for the ‘big one’ in 2 weeks time.
Act one comprises 3 days of racing over the next 2 weekends and the entry fee is £25 for the series of £10 per day:
Sunday 26th August
Monday 27th August
Sunday 2nd September
There will be three races per day , one in the morning starting not before 10:55 and two in the afternoon from a committee boat over the same style course as the Nationals course (though maybe not as big).
The all important socials….
Sunday 9th August has now been confirmed as the night of the famous Fancy Dress Pub Crawl! Visiting some of Eastbournes most famous hostelries we can guarantee a serious night on the town. This years theme is the ever-popular SUPER HEROES so for those of you who have always fancied yourselves as a budding Batman, Robin, Lara Croft, Austin Powers or Cat Woman, it’s time to get those costumes out! For those who remember last years event, Spod was the proud recipient of the final Duckhams Award which was conveniently a pair of Superman pants – let’s hope he adds the blue tights and side parting to lead us round the town this year! Prizes will be awarded to the most original costume out there so put your thinking caps on!
The remainder of the weeks social programme is just as packed – we have organised curry nights and bands to ease us through the event! Full details will be published in your entry pack.
