Beer to host round 4 of the 2007 RS800 Fat Face Circuit!
It couldn’t be more befitting – this weekend, the 12-13th May the 800 fleet will be flexing their foils at Beer sailing club down in the West Country! With a sailing area in the famous Lyme Bay we’re guaranteed some classic sea-sailing conditions. The forecast is looking very promising indeed – 15-20 knots, it’s going to be a cracker!
With 3 events now done and dusted the season’s favorites are beginning to emerge. With 2 wins to Peter Barton/Roz Allen (Henri Lloyd) and one to Spod Olive/Guy Filmore (Sola/Harken) the competition is proving very close indeed. Plenty more big names within the fleet to challenge these two so do come along and be part of it!
On your arrival please take your boats to the end of the boards on the pebbled beach. The beach is open to the public so please don’t block it for other users.
The briefing will be held on Saturday morning in the club house at 11:50 am before the first of three back to back races begins at 1pm. Sunday will also have three races with the first start scheduled for 11:00 am.
The bar will of course be open on Saturday evening and there will be food available too. Bacon sarnies will kick start Sunday’s sailing, these will be available from 08:30 until 10:30. Don’t be too hasty with the packing up on Sunday as the club is providing us with a high tea prior to the prize giving and the journey home.
Accommodation-wise there is no camping available on site however Beer Head Caravan park takes tents and is just 250 yds from the club. Please call 01297 21107 for bookings.
There is also a selection of guest houses available so please see the events page of the 800 website for details.
So, a great weekend ahead for all 800 sailors – look forward to seeing you there!
