Come and join us for this great new event on the RS 2007 calendar - we are all off to Travemunder Week, billed as the 2nd largest sailing event in the World. It's a serious racing and party week with over 1000 boats in various fleets, and a fantastic variety of socials in a tented village. The ‘Cowes Week’ of the dinghy world; it is also a great environment for families with all facilities really close - including hotels, B&B, restaurants, discos, pubs etc. German efficiency and beer - perfect!
The dates are 23 - 27 July and we will have our own RS course.
Please enter before 14th June. If you possibly can, please enter before this date for the following reasons:-
- You will receive a free polo shirt, and
- If we get 100+ entries by this date, we will get a 2nd race course.
The club arranges extremely local camping just off the beach, which can be booked with your entry. There are loads of other accommodation options, all very local to the action. Use the accommodation hotline - 0049 451 409 1956, [email protected], [email protected] I have tried this and would suggest calling - they speak excellent English and can answer all your queries.
Travemünde is 45 minutes north-east of Hamburg. Ryanair flies into Lübeck (they call it Lübeck/Hamburg) Airport, which is 20 minutes away. Sailboat Deliveries (www.sailboatdeliveries.com) will be delivering for approx. £375/boat. Travemunde is just 8 hours (500 miles) from Calais, or 6 hours (370 miles) from the Hook of Holland ferry ports.
The race area is in Lubeck Bay in the Baltic Sea. RS launching will be off the beach or the dinghy ramps in the harbour. There will be a Beach Club tent with a bar and cafe right on the launching beach, enabling you to have your first (and perhaps all) drinks immediately after racing whilst still in your shorties! There are great socials arranged, including a RS party on the Sunday on board a tall ship in the harbour.
