Coaching Weekend at QMSC
There will be an 800 coaching session with a difference at Queen Mary Sailing Club on the 19-20 October (the weekend after the Inlands.)
David Hivey is injured and so can't sail, but he will be at the Inlands and will video the racing. He will then do a debrief in the evening after sailing over a beer in the clubhouse.
You can then leave your boats at the club and there will be a training session the following weekend. This weekend will have a different feeling to most training weekends.
- Saturday, many of the top sailors in the country have agreed to bring their boats down and will sail with other helms / crews. This means that if you don't own a boat or would like to get one of the best sailors in the country to show you what to do from 50cm in front/behind then come down and get involved.
There will also be normal training for teams that want to come for a whole weekends coaching.
- It will start at 10.30am rigged but not changed on the Saturday
- Sunday there will be a normal days training with video debriefs after each session.
Training can be more fun than the racing!
The best part is that Dave has agreed to do this weekend and the inlands coaching for no charge! Therefore, the cost is £20 for weekend which covers the QMSC day sailing fee & fuel for the rib. Booking is limited to 10 boats.
You do not need your own boat for the Saturday. If one of the following applies to you then come down.
- You want to get into the class but don't yet have a boat.
- You aren't sure if the 800 is suitable for your needs but want a go to see.
- You want to try a skiff before you buy one.
- You have just left youth sailing and haven't got a clue what to sail next.
- You have a boat but you want to jump in with one of the top sailors so they can look at your sailing.
