Day two of the RS800 Nationals brought a windier day than it looked from the shore, with the fleet seeing 13–20 knots across the three races. The stronger breeze made for some fast and physical racing, with plenty of changes at the front of the fleet.
Race 3 saw Blake and Brett Tudor put together a great battle at the front. They fought hard throughout the race and managed to take the win, with Tom and Guy closely followed in second and Louis and Lucy in third. A notable sixth-place finish for new team Jess and Eden, finding their form in the boat.
In Race 4, Blake and Brett were again right in the mix before a capsize on the final run opened the door for the chasing pack. Tom and Guy took full advantage, claiming the race win, with Tim and Arthur in second followed by Monique and Hugh in third.
The final race of the day produced some particularly close racing, with slightly less breeze. Louis and Lucy battled hard with Tom and Guy, with the lead changing hands throughout the race. Going into the final stages, a gybe set into good pressure gave Tom and Guy the advantage, allowing them to pull clear and take their second win of the day. Louis and Lucy held on for second, with Monique and Hugh completing the podium.
After five races, Tom and Guy lead the championship on 5 points, with Tim and Arthur second on 11. Louis and Lucy sit third on 12 points, level with Monique and Hugh, while Blake and Brett are just one point further back in fifth.
With just one point separating second to fifth, the championship remains wide open going into Day 3.
